Eco Maximus

Eco-Maximus is a social enterprise established in Sri Lanka established in 1997 by Thusitha Ranasinghe. The aim of Eco-Maximus is to enhance conservation, primarily that of the Sri Lankan elephants. Eco-Maximus uses the ‘Elephant Dung’ to produce paper with and then raise awareness to the tragic circumstances that surround the Sri Lankan Elephants. Conflict between man and wild elephants over land are severely detrimental to both. Eco-Maximus vision is to bring these two together by implementing a ‘Peace Paper’ project hoping to create a mutual and beneficial relationship between people and elephants. The company also aimed at improving the socio-economic situation that currently restricts under privileged people living in the rural area employing around 40 people in Pinawella.
